President, Ron Brown, announced that this year’s winner is
Nick Pappas, for his book “Crosses of Iron, The Tragic Story of
Dawson, New Mexico, and Its Twin Mining Disasters.”

Past President, Stephanie Saager-Bourret, presents the 2025 award to
Ed Raines, for his presentation,
“Artisanal Mining in the Quartz Creek Pegmatite District, Gunnison
County, Colorado.”
This award was presented at the Presidential Luncheon.

Paul Award recipient, Robert E. Eveleth, Jr., Mining Engineer, New Mexico Bureau of
Geology & Mineral Resources, curator of the mineral museum, and
creator of the bureau archive.The award was presented at a bureau event following the MHA
conference.

of an award honoring MHA Past President and founding member, Duane
Smith,
