(Right) Between 1869 and 1883 the V&T hauled ore from the Comstock to mills on the Carson River. Each car carried 8 tons of ore.None of these 4-wheeled cars are known to have survived.
Returning to Virginia City, we followed the route of the early gold prospectors.They continued through Devil’s Gate and hit pay dirt.Our bus had to take the alternate truck route to avoid the sharp curve at Gold Hill.
