The Bagdad maintenance shop gave everyone a chance to get up close to the mining equipment. Our Freeport guide, Glenn, describes the various types of maintenance functions performed in the shop.

(Above)  Carmen Culver and Roxanne Piekenbrock provide a sense of scale for a Cat dozer.

(Left) Jane Bardal poses by one of the huge Cat 793D haul trucks.  It is only 19 steps up to the operator’s cab!

Even the lubrication station matches the scale of the equipment.

Truck tires cost $32 thousand each so good mine road maintenance is essential.

The smiling faces on the MHA participants reflect their appreciation of the “luxurious” buses on this year’s tours.  Thanks Bill Hawes and Bob Metz!

The return trip to Prescott provides the MHAers with a final view of the arid Arizona mining country.
